Commissions and Committees
Welcome
to the Committee/Commission page of the Town's website.
The Mayor and Council
have appointed various committees and commissions
to assist them as they fulfill their duties as Council
Members. It is impossible for the Mayor and Council
to be in all places at all times. They have appointed
the committees and commissions to study issues and
provide the information and recommendation to the
Council for their decision.
The Planning and Zoning
Commission was created by ordinance to formulate and
administer any lawful plan duly adopted by the Town
Council for the present and future growth and development
of the Town pertaining to the use of land and buildings
for any purpose; to make a continuous study of the
best present and future use to which land and buildings
shall be put within the Town; and to recommend to
the Town Council revisions and such plans which, in
the opinion of the commission, are for the best interest
of the citizens of the Town. It is the duty of the
Planning and Zoning Commission to hold public hearings
when necessary; to make recommendations to the Town
Council on all matters concerning or related to the
creation of zoning districts, the boundaries thereof,
the appropriate regulations to be enforced therein
and amendments of the Town Code, and the official
Town Zoning Map. (Go to P & Z Commission to learn
about current vacancies on the Commission.)
The Advertising and
Promotion Committee was appointed by ordinance to
help them in promoting tourism in the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside
throughout the State of Arizona and the southwestern
United States. The Committee provides recommendations
to the Council regarding contracts with advertising
and public relations agencies. They meet and develop
an advertising plan and budget and present those to
the Council for approval. They also report back to
the Council on a regular basis.
The Town Council supports
the Film Commission to promote the White Mountains
to the Film industry as an attractive and unique area
for future film production.
The 2020 Vision Committee
was created in the fall of 1996 after the Town held
several visioning meetings to determine their future.
The Committee helps to provide information to and
from the community to the Council. They have become
known as a conduit between the citizens and the Council
and have been instrumental in improving communication
between both parties.
As you continue in this
portion of the site, you will find specific information
on the committees/commissions, their membership and
duties.
Should you be interested
in learning more or becoming part of a particular
commission or committee, please contact the Town through
the Town Clerk's page.
