TOWN OF PINETOP-LAKESIDE

ORDINANCE NO. 06-268

AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF PINETOP-LAKESIDE ARIZONA, AMENDING TOWN CODE CHAPTER 2.20, ELECTIONS.

WHEREAS, the Town wishes to amend the Pinetop-Lakeside Town Code Chapter 2.20, Elections, by adding Section 2.20.030, Mail ballot election.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF PINETOP-LAKESIDE, ARIZONA, as follows:

Section 1:

Town Code Section 2.20.030 is added, to read:

2.20.030 Mail ballot election.

A. The Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside may choose to conduct any Town election as a mail ballot election.

B. All Town elections held on the same date shall use the same method of voting.

C. Any elector who receives a mail ballot may vote a provisional ballot, subject to verification by the Town Clerk that the elector has not already voted a mail ballot.

D. The Town Clerk shall supply printed instructions to mail ballot voters. The mail ballot voter shall complete and sign the ballot affidavit, mark the ballot in such a manner that the vote cannot be seen, put it in the envelope provided for that purpose, seal the envelope, and deliver or mail the envelope to the Town Clerk. Voters may return the ballot and affidavit to the Town Clerk no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Section 4:

This Ordinance will become effective on the 5^th day of June 2006.
