Planning and Zoning

All temporary sign permits for portable or banner signs shall require a permit fee and a $200 deposit in the form of cash or an approved surety bond. The deposit may be revoked by the Community Development Department if a violation occurs.

All banner and portable signs must be manufactured by a professional sign maker consistent with the design specifications.

NOTICE: Failure to comply with Section 16.120.115 or any other section of the Town Code, as well as the sign procedures identified herein, may result in revocation of any sign deposit or code enforcement by the Town, or both.


BANNERS
  • Banner sign permits shall require a $50 filing fee. Additional permits shall not be issued until any previous permits expire.
  • Applicants requesting banner sign permits are limited to a maximum of ten (10) consecutive business days. Businesses may display banners for a maximum of one hundred (100) days per year provided additional permits are obtained. Selection of these days is at the discretion of the applicant and must be noted on the application form.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
  • Banners shall be no more than 10' wide and 30' sq. ft. in area.
  • Banner sign materials shall be limited to 13-oz. vinyl materials, 8 mil. Polyurethane, or 13-oz. heavy canvas.
  • Banners shall be constructed with heavy grommet fasteners at all four corners.
  • Banners with yellow, orange, or neon colored fields are prohibited.
  • Banners with neon colored copy are prohibited.
  • Banners employing words such as "STOP", "LOOK", or "YIELD" are prohibited.
  • Banners copy (message) shall not exceed 70% of the field.
  • Banners shall not display copy under 6" in height.
  • Banners should employ light colored copy set upon a dark field although dark letters set upon a white field is permissible.
  • Banners shall be limited to four colors and maximum of two different copy styles, or fonts.
  • Banner signs shall be void of any product or service identification unless the product or service is directly associated with the business location.

NOTE: All banner signs shall be manufactured by a professional sign maker meeting the approval of the Community Development Department. The final administrative interpretation of these design standards shall be at the sole discretion of the Planning and Zoning Administrator.


PORTABLE SIGNS
  • Portable signs shall require a $50 filing fee. Additional permits may be obtained without an additional $50 filing fee, although no permit shall be issued until the previous permit expires.
  • Applicants requesting portable sign permits are limited to a maximum of ten (10) permits days. Applicants shall not be permitted to reserve permit days more than sixty (60) days in advance, unless no available days remain within this time period.
  • Applicants shall pay a permit-filing fee and submit a deposit to the Community Development Department prior to issuance of the first temporary sign permit.
  • Portable signs are restricted to designated shopping center complexes as determined by the Community Development Department.
  • Portable signs are permitted for no more than eighty (80) days per calendar year, consisting of specific Friday and Saturdays and holidays as identified on the prescribed calendar.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
  • Portable signs may be no more than 4' high and 3' wide.
  • Portable sign surface materials are limited to PVC laminated over foam backing or wood, or plexi-glass minimum of 1/2" thickness, as well as finished aluminum.
  • Portable signs with yellow, orange, or neon colored fields are prohibited.
  • Portable signs with neon colored copy are prohibited.
  • Portable signs employing words such as "STOP," "LOOK," or "YIELD" are prohibited.
  • Portable sign copy (message) shall not exceed 60% of the field.
  • Portable signs shall not be illuminated.
  • Portable signs shall not display copy under 6" in height.
  • Portable signs shall be limited to four colors and maximum of two different copy styles, or fonts.
  • Portable signs shall be void of any product or service identification unless the product or service is directly associated with the business location.
